Chulovich, Viktor N., Moscow

Chulovich worked as an artist’s assistant in the film studio “Mosfilm”. During his time at Mosfilm he was honored to become a member of the Moscow Artists’ Guild (1949) as well as the Artists’ Union of the USSR (1950). It was at this point in his life that Viktor became completely involved in painting. He spent his time traveling, living for periods in places such as the Mikhailovka countryside near Jerusalem, painting everywhere he went. A trip in the early 1970’s to Central Asia with his very good friend Evgenii Golikhin had a profound effect on him, though his adventures in around his home in Russia had an equally deep and lasting impression as for him it was all about the process of observation. Viktor Chulovich had a great love for all of the places he visited and painted. In his later years he took up painting in the Martus Tver’ countryside which he said “I love with all my heart, and I will forever be devoted to these places”. He died in Moscow in 1994.
